to the deep sea

An array of activities is on your doorstep when you are a resident of La Balise Marina.

Black River is a big-fish mecca

Internationally recognized for being the deep-sea fishing centre of the region, amateurs and aficionados from all around the world come to hook the marlin, shark, wahoo, dorado, tuna or bonito. It is the perfect spot for those looking for a trophy catch, with the monster fish dwelling well beyond the calm coral reefs as the sea drops off past the 3000m mark.

The West coast is the place where nautical activities happen:
scuba diving, snorkelling and leisure boating. It is also famous for dolphin watching.

La Preneuse public beach is one of the nicest swimming beaches in the West. Further down, towards Le Morne, stands Benitier Island, a volcanic rock in the crystal-clear waters of the lagoon.

The world-renowned surf spots “One Eye” at Le Morne and “Dale” at Tamarin,
are a paradise for surfers. Le Morne is also a sought-after spot for wind-surfers
and kite-surfers.
