Broad Principles of La Balise Marina Rental Pool Company
The Mauritius Tourism Market is one of the more dynamic in the world, attracting approximately 1 million tourists in 2007. The target is to increase this number to 2 million by 2015. It is a well established market targeting mainly high end tourists.

It is recognised for its originality with, high levels of service and local flair, having earned the enviable reputation as the place “where the people go to play”.

In recent years Mauritius has broadened its tourism base with the introduction of the ‘Integrated Resort Scheme (IRS)’. Rentals of freehold residential units within these IRS add to the supply of tourist accommodation needs.

Because the Government of Mauritius wishes to maintain and grow this high-end tourism offering it has introduced regulation for the orderly marketing and management of IRS units.

The Mauritian legal framework includes strict regulation on IRS developers. Regulations include stringent conditions to the granting of EIA licenses, the minimum pricing of residential units and guidelines on building specifications.

The legal framework also obliges IRS developers to take responsibility for the orderly management of the rental pool and obliges any residential rental in an IRS scheme to be undertaken by the developer or a Management Company designated by it.
