Upon making a reservation for a given time slot, members of the public will have access to three computers, all provided with internet access. Those were donated by the E-inclusion Foundation. The aim of this cyber corner is to facilitate access to information and communication technology and to popularise its use amongst younger - and not so young - people in the area.
"Computing facilities have nowadays an important part to play in people's education and development," explains Mario Radegonde, CSR Manager of the ENL Foundation. "As part of their studies, youngsters, in the neighbouring schools and colleges, need internet access for various projects and research. Amongst other things, we want to see this cyber corner act as a catalyst that helps local students perform better on the academic front."
After the opening of La Maison de La Balise last June and the introduction of the company's social plan focused on education and training, La Balise Marina is hoping that the cyber corner initiative will further help Black River inhabitants to feel more fully integrated within our fast-moving present-day society.
The cyber corner is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday to Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. To gain access to the facilities, users need simply to make a reservation beforehand by calling Cynthia at La Maison de La Balise on 483 7885.
